ELECTRICALS: CG, India Inaugurates New Drive Plant

Crompton Greaves (CG), part of the US$ 4 bn Avantha Group, has inaugurated its drives and automation plant at Mandideep, Bhopal. This plant will produce AC drives for the industrial segment and supply traction converters and control electronics to the Indian Railways.
Built at an initial investment of Rs 110 mn, this plant boasts a shop floor spread over 30,000 sq. feet and is equipped with modern machineries and tools. The plant will initially manufacture power converters, auxiliary converters (3×100 kVA) and control electronics for 6000 HP electric locomotives type WAG9 and WAP5, for the Indian Railways.
